I Heart Scarves

SCARVES!!!! They make the fashion world go round.  They add color, texture, and style to any outfit. Warmer than a necklace the scarf is a perfect accessory to spice up any boring January ensemble.  Also I approve of fuzzy hats... a la Lisa.

Monochrome Blues?

What can you do to pull yourself out of the cold weather doldrums? Wear BRIGHT colors! Add a lighter and brighter color to accent a dark winter wardrobe. All grey, black and navy outfits seem to be super popular this year, but make sure you break up the monochromatics by adding a vivid highlight. Sweaters, scarves, colored hats, or boots of a different color are all encouraged.

As you can see, adding a bright sweater and then a colorful scarf as much variety to a usually dark wardrobe.
Yana is rocking this fire engine coat alongside a mostly grey ensemble. The green undershirt adds interesting contrast as well.

My Favorite things... Local style!

JACQUE PERRY

These are my new favorite earrings!!

These are handmade by local designer Jacque Perry, who uses all recycled leather to create amazing pieces of art you can wear! I bought them at a local block party this summer, and she had other styles with some silver chains, and other materials. The lengths of earrings range from just a couple inches long to the length I have, which is past the shoulders. I'm not gonna lie, I went out and bought two separate outfits to wear with these awesome earrings. I can't wait to get more styles in different colors!

TRELOAR COUTURE
This necklace was created by my friend and local designer Kira Treloar of Treloar Couture www.treloarcouture.etsy.com

She makes all handcrafted gemstone jewelry, as well as feather earrings, headbands, bracelets and these shell earrings:

Check out these awesome designers, and buy some of their sweet accessories!

Back to School- not just for kids

There is something in the Fall air that makes me want to buy jeans. Although I haven't been "back to school shopping" since middle school, I still have this constant urge to buy sweaters, try on jeans, and get new sneakers. It must be the way the colors change and the way the rain falls everyday that makes me think "I should be studying algebra right now, or writing a paper. Better go get new shoes!"

Obviously "Back to School" evokes certain images. For me it starts with colors (Red, black, blue, yellow, purple, green) which turn in to patterns (plaid, paisley, stripes, more plaid), and then goes into outfits (plaid skirt with vest and t-shirt, jeans and a button down, striped sweater and skinny jeans, paisley scarf with dark dress and tights. Anything involving boots.) I went to the streets to capture some "Back to School Street Style."

I love this tunic! Is it a shirt, or is it a dress? I don't know, but wear it with tights and boots, over skinny jeans with flats, or with a jacket and tranparent tights and ankle boots to go out, this tunic rocks!

Some outfits I saw at the mall. I love black and red, especially in plaid... and with boots.

Fashion First

Your Fashion: What you wear is who you are to the world. Sure, some people can dress up and look fabulous, but I am on the hunt for those everyday people who are always rockin' good fashion styles. This blog includes tips for updating your look, using "out of style" shoes and accessories to generate new fashion waves, looking the best in what you have, and shopping great on the least amount of money possible. I will share what I'm love and what I hate. Don't be surprised if the fashion police show up every now and then to show what definitely not to wear. Makeup, hair, outfits, the whole shebang.
